People move here and stay here for several reasons ...

Our healthy and safe neighbourhoods, world-class recreation facilities and events, inviting parks and trails, excellent library services, wonderful galleries and museums and top-notch festivals create the vibrant cultural lifestyle our residents and visitors have grown to love.

Our uptown is an urban escape with the public square at its core. The square is a lively gathering space for the community to host and participate in high caliber events and festivals. Cultural institutions such as the Clay & Glass Gallery and the Button Factory bring the arts together, while the stories of our heritage are captured at the City of Waterloo Museum

A high-quality education begins right at the elementary level. Together, our public and catholic school boards are comprised of 153 elementary schools and 20 secondary schools.

We boast one of the highest portions of post-secondary students across Canada; 71.5% of the 63,780 adults aged 25 years and older in Waterloo have completed some form of post-secondary education - compared to 59.6% at the national level (2011 Census data). With three world-class post-secondary institutions - Conestoga College, University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University - it's no wonder our students are so successful.

Overall, Waterloo offers a balanced and rich lifestyle for residents, visitors, students, business people and investors to enjoy year-round.
