Buzzing with life, uptown Waterloo boasts over 400 businesses, including a plethora of restaurants, cafés, bars and hot spots ...

At the heart of uptown is the Waterloo Public Square.

This popular gathering space hosts over 400 programmed events each year including high caliber festivals, concerts and weekly farmers markets. In the wintertime, people of all ages enjoy the skating rink.

For many years, the City of Waterloo and the Business Improvement Association (BIA) have promoted the uptown as the primary retail and cultural focus of Waterloo. Today, there are over 400 businesses, including more than 50 eateries and a grocery store, in the uptown. Many of these businesses are independently owned and enhance the character and experience of the uptown core.

The BIA is the second oldest association in Ontario and plays a very proactive role in the development of the uptown, including bringing to life high caliber events such as the Sun Life Financial Waterloo Busker Carnival and the Sun Life Financial UpTown Waterloo Jazz Festival. The City of Waterloo works very closely with the BIA to deliver a unique experience to residents and visitors alike.

The city is currently in the process of enhancing the uptown Waterloo Park entrance that will offer new and unique amenities to this area, and has extended the food truck pilot program to 2015.

Uptown Waterloo is always bustling with activity!
